A senior associate with the Foundation, Susan Gewirtz develops and manages the organization’s investment in the Center for Working Families approach. In addition, she leads the Foundation’s work related to implementing early childhood strategies within a two-generation context.
Prior to joining the Foundation in 1994, Gewirtz was a project director at the Citizen’s Committee for Children, a child advocacy organization in New York City. She was responsible for providing staff support in the areas of income security and child welfare, and produced a report on the status of children in New York City. Before this position, she worked for the City of New York as a policy analyst in the Welfare Department and in the Mayor’s Office on Homelessness Policy.
Gewirtz has a master’s degree in urban affairs and policy analysis from the New School University.
